Salary: USD38 - USD45 per hour Location: Hybrid (Onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) Duration: 3–5 months contract with potential for temp-to-hire consideration Schedule: Hybrid; required onsite with the team two days per week (Tuesday and Thursday), remote work available on other days About the Opportunity We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant / Property Accountant to join a collaborative, mission-driven organization that supports unhoused and disabled individuals through the management of complex affordable housing properties. This is a temporary contract role covering a maternity leave, with the possibility of transitioning into a longer-term opportunity based on business needs and performance. The team is close-knit, highly experienced, hardworking, and supportive. Position Overview This role will primarily focus on property accounting responsibilities . The selected candidate will also provide Accounts Payable (AP) coverage approximately 1–2 days per week , supporting the accounting team while maintaining property accounting duties for the remainder of the week. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a complex accounting environment. Key Responsibilities Perform day-to-day property accounting activities for a portfolio of properties Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger account reconciliations Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Analyze financial data and investigate variances Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and procedures Support financial reporting requirements and audits as needed Provide Accounts Payable support 1–2 days per week during maternity leave coverage, including invoice processing and vendor-related activities Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to resolve accounting issues and maintain accurate records Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned Required Qualifications 3–4 years of accounting experience Strong accounting knowledge and analytical skills Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills Ability and willingness to work onsite a minimum of two days per week (Tuesday and Thursday) Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Preferred Qualifications Property accounting experience Experience with Yardi software Why This Role?
