Classification: Part Time; Non-Exempt Hours: 24 - 32 hours per week Supervisor: BWROC Executive Director General Description The accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting, planning, directing and controlling functions following BWROC policies and procedures. This includes grant accounting, developing and preparing annual budgets for the organization and individual programs, implementing an effective system of accounting, managing the payroll system, and maintaining accurate and current records. This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, payroll, financial reporting, year‑end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities. The accountant works closely with the Executive Director, Finance Committee and Board of Directors, Treasurer and other related entity and persons to ensure the fiscal operations of the agency are efficient, accurate and current. Responsibilities & Duties Manage and maintain all records and finances in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, applicable State law, licensing and accrediting organizations, and agency policies and procedures. Develop, implement, and document efficient procedures and processes ensuring a high level of accuracy to enhance the workflow of the organization. Monthly meetings with the ED and Finance Committee regarding financial records. Collaborate with ED on financial documentation required by funding and/or regulatory agencies; ensure all reporting is completed and available in a timely manner including ad hoc requests from the ED or Treasurer. Budget preparation for agency, grants, contracts and other purposes. Review all new or amended contracts and leases prior to acceptance. Review and report on yearly insurance renewals (property, liability, fidelity, etc.). Responsible for ensuring donors receive receipt of their donation for tax purposes. Perform banking and investment responsibilities and requirements. Manage cash flow and utilize bank line of credit when necessary. Accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions. Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliation activities. Conduct and oversee all payroll functions and 3rd-party payroll service provider (including PTO pay, taxes, insurance, other deductions, reports, and forms). Maintain documentation of grants, contracts, leases, vehicles, other business agreements, and corporate documents. Working with a CPA ensure a clean and timely year-end audit. Ensure that outside audits are completed annually (including contractors and worker's compensation). Coordinate and/or work with the Operations Director and benefits provider to evaluate and report benefit options to the ED and board. Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the ED. Position Qualifications BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting with five to seven years of prior experience with management of general ledger and financial reporting. Required skills include: excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, team-building skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, effective verbal and listening skills, attention to detail and high level of accuracy, very effective organizational skills, supervisory skills, ability to multi-task, stress and time management skills, and the ability to effectively interact with funding and regulatory agencies. Expectations This is a part-time hourly position. This position must maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of the Accountant. This position must also demonstrate the following personal attributes: be honest and trustworthy, be respectful, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, be flexible, and demonstrate sound work ethics. Performance Reviews Written and verbal reviews will be conducted annually. The ED will complete the performance review and will meet with the employee to read and discuss the review. A copy will be given to the employee and the original will be kept in the employee file in a locked cabinet.
