The Accountant is responsible for general accounting duties including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations related to Fresh Express corporate accounting and TransFresh. This position requires solid understanding of related business concepts and their applications, ability to review and analyze information, and develop an understanding of the business and the financial reporting for the business. Projects involve implementation of processes to support changing business needs and internal control compliance. Essential Functions, Duties And Responsibilities Responsible for timely and accurate month-end accounting close and associated tasks Responsible for updating and manipulating multiple databases Prepare monthly variance and trend analysis reports Prepare related account reconciliations and review General Ledger account balances for compliance with GAAP and internal controls Provide financial support to the business through teamwork with analysts to provide meaningful information and reporting of the business Identify, communicate, and recommend solutions for raw accounting issues and problems Seek opportunities to streamline and improve accounting transactions and work with the business to provide accounting and analytical support to meet internal customer needs Investigate troubled accounts, communicate problems and provide solutions Be able to deliver under pressure for deadlines Ad hoc reports as needed Required Knowledge Skills And Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills; with responsive feedback at all times Microsoft Excel skills to include VLOOKUP, pivot table, external linking, and respect for proper database management and accuracy to ensure data quality and integrity Strong PC skills including working knowledge of Excel and ERP software Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and application Must have the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism Strong attention to detail and a desire to assume new responsibilities Organization, attention to detail and the ability to analyze data Required Education And Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Minimum of 1+ years General Accounting experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Raw / Food Industry experience is a plus Language Requirements: English, Spanish knowledge helpful Other Information The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, and are not to be construed, as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
