JOB STATEMENT: The Accounting Manager will assist in leading the Accounting, Finance, and Tax team to manage financial procedures, tax strategies, and reporting requirements of multiple companies. Responsibilities in this role will include but not be limited to: directing all audit activities by internal and external sources to ensure internal control; maintaining compliance with financial agreements; responsibility for the control and safeguard of various resources to increase financial performance; directing all tax reporting activities related to excise, income, property, etc.; and responsibility for all tax planning activities.

Essential Duties:

· Prepare reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

· Provide financial analysis with relevant interpretation for ownership/management decision making; assist all areas in analyzing costs. Implement sound financial and accounting systems, proper internal controls and procedures, as well as meaningful and timely reports

· Assist Controller in determining proper levels of insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets

· Assists in preparing monthly and annual operating and capital equipment budgets

· Assist with both analysis and accounting for all capital expenditures projects and management of fixed assets for all companies

· Advise Controller on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions

· Oversee cash flow analysis, inventory controls and inventory management, including accurate and timely analysis of trended inventory, inventory turns and inventory reserves

· Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies

· Coordinate preparation of tax returns by staff and outside accountants and tax planning

· Coordinate general ledger activity including all responsibility for day to day work with outside accounting firms on FYE and tax interactions

· Review company financial statements for accuracy and clarity

· Assist Controller with cash management functions pertaining to daily deposits, wire/ACH and bank transfers

· Assist Controller with cash management functions

· Manage the Accounting Department

· Responsible for the 401K and profit-sharing programs

· Oversee and assist with payroll and payroll related issues

· Manage month-end and year-end close process including reviewing and approving monthly journal entries

· Oversee monthly and annual reconciliations for all inventory (bulk wine, case goods, chemicals and raw materials)

· Lead accounting team to establish annual cost standards

· Oversee and assist with year-end financial audits and external audits with governing agencies (IRS, State Board of Equalization, TTB, County Assessors, Sales and Use Tax and Unclaimed property audits)

· Lead initiatives for system upgrades and implementations and other financial applications/solutions

· Other relevant job duties as assigned including approval of time off and disciplinary actions.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting

· 8-10 years’ experience, preferably in the food and beverage industry

· Strong analytical, organizational, and communications skills

· Expert Financial reporting skills including ERP and other technological applications

· CPA or CMA preferred

· Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

Knowledge of:

· Auditing principles including work paper preparation and adequate internal controls

· Industry practices and procedures related to wineries, growers, manufacturing (standard costing)

· Logistics and transportation

Ability to:

· Analyze data and perform complex mathematical calculations independently

· Communicate effectively / both written and oral

· Decision making / problem solving

· Plan, organize and prioritize workload

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Sit for an extensive period of time

· Perform tasks using standard computer equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Limited noise level

· Indoor climate

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

· Side shield safety glasses, safety vest, head/ear protection and proper footwear when in production facility
