Supervisor of Accounting
Supervisor of Accounting in the Western United States: this hybrid opportunity supports a highly recognized, member-focused financial institution with a long-standing reputation for trust, stability, and community impact. This role is ideal for an accounting leader who thrives in regulated environments, enjoys mentoring teams, and wants to elevate financial reporting, controls, and processes while staying close to the work.
As Supervisor of Accounting, you'll join a member-owned, not-for-profit financial services organization serving more than a million members with a strong governance model and a growing operational footprint across the region. The Supervisor of Accounting reports to the Accounting Manager and works closely with the Controller and senior finance leaders, partnering cross-functionally to ensure accurate Accounting, Financial Reporting, and GAAP compliance. Direct reports typically Staff Accountants and Accounting Specialists, with close collaboration across audit, operations, and compliance functions.
In this position, the Accounting Supervisor will balance people leadership with hands-on technical oversight. On the operational side, you'll coach and develop accounting talent, drive skills development, and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on quality improvement and ownership. Administratively, the Supervisor of Accounting oversees Account Reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, audit preparation, Budgeting support, internal controls, and process improvements-leveraging Excel and accounting systems to improve accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency while supporting regulatory exams and independent audits.
The Supervisor of Accounting will live and work in the Greater Sacramento Area, a region known for year-round outdoor recreation, with access to mountains, coastlines, and national parks.
