Payrate: $95k-$115k, DOE

JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager manages the financial accounting responsibilities. Maintain and account for the fiscal matters of the company, close monthly financials, reconcile balance sheet, and prepare certain financial reporting and analysis for management decision making support.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MONTH END CLOSE

  • Ensure that all divisions of AP & AR get completed in a timely manner.
  • Review trial balance during close for errors and reclassifications.
  • Manage the monthly close process and issue timely financial reports (monthly statements for owners).
  • Perform monthly financial statement review and variance analysis.
  • At the end of the month or year, record accrual, deferral, depreciation & amortization, re-class, and interdepartmental entries to ensure that balances are correct.
  • Reconcile the general ledger, ensuring that all entries are accurate and that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations.
  • Maintain the Inventory and Fixed Asset sub-ledger details.
  • Period-end processing for each module in SAGE 100.

YEAR-END

  • Coordinate the provision of information for the annual CPA review & tax filing of internal financials.
  • Lead and participate with internal and external financial audits.

TREASURY

  • Review bank reconciliations and ensure that they are completed.
  • Report Borrow Base requirements to bank

REPORTING

  • Provide management with timely reviews of the financial status, including the preparation of financial statements and certain plant metrics.
  • Capital Projects
  • Review annual Workers Comp & General Liability Insurance to ensure proper coverage
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.

BUDGET

  • Work with Business Partners to lower cost structure, maximize efficiency, and increase profitability.
  • Conduct monthly review of departmental financial statements with departmental managers.
  • Assist in the annual budget process working cross-functionally.

SYSTEMS

  • Maintains the plant’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all transactions and assets.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in data collection and management.
  • Ensure cost accounting practices and procedures are properly implemented and monitored.

POLICY

  • Develops and implements new accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending improvements.
  • Maintain and improve a system of controls over accounting transactions.

MANAGMENT

  • Lead the accounting department team including GL, AP, and AR functions.
  • Other duties may incorporate: Interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, managing process, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.


Requirements:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Will occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.
  • Will frequently sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination simultaneously.
  • Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.
  • Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexions/minute).
  • Use of keyboard and mouse for an extended period.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • May work near moving mechanical parts.
  • May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

1. Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience with steady progression through management ranks, preferably in an agricultural manufacturing business, including experience in job costing.

2. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.

3. Ability to confidently present information to executive management.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

6. Advanced MS Office skills (Excel).
