We put people first, work to keep them safe and build trusting relationships./ppWhat youll be working on:/polliProvides leadership, guidance, coaching and succession planning to all direct reports within the Accounting function./liliManages the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation of all of the companies within area of responsibility, ensuring accurate and timely results that are in accordance with GAAP./liliReviews work performed by staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Requirements./liliEnsures monthly financial analysis, including account reconciliations and flux analysis, are prepared to provide insights into the results of operations./liliProvides financial statements and financial updates to business unit management./liliEnsures compliance with periodic reporting requirements with the state and Federal regulatory agencies./liliMaintains effective systems, policies, processes and controls to ensure the business unit is in compliance with all Sarbanes Oxley requirements for internal control over financial reporting, disclosure controls and reporting, and enterprise risk management./liliEvaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes, tools, and related business process and information integrations, ensuring that practices are both in line with the overall goals of the organization and are efficient and effective./liliEstablishes and maintains financial and statistical analysis for Key Performance Indicators./liliAssists Technical Accounting team in the identification, research, and communication of technical accounting matters involving the business unit./liliRecruits, manages, and develops a high-performing team to meet current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training, and development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management./liliProvide leadership and development support to the team in training, feedback, encouragement, and hands-on assistance./liliManages relationships and interactions with external auditors, internal auditors, and other third-party service providers./liliOptimizes Companys financial systems, including providing guidance and leadership in the enhanced use of existing ERP systems or key member of the project team for the implementation of a new ERP system./liliCollaborates with Regulatory Affairs in support of regulatory filings and ensure that regulatory decisions are accounted for correctly./liliWorks with the Tax Department to understand changes in tax regulations and the impacts they will have on the companys financial statements./liliWorks closely with the Manager of Financial Analysis to ensure accurate and timely reporting of budget and forecasting./liliCollaborates and engages with the Companys other key finance functions, including Treasury/Finance, FPA, Finance Shared Services, and Internal Audit to accomplish key goals and priorities./liliSupports special projects and ad-hoc requests as assigned by the Director of Finance, Controller, CAO and/or CFO./li/olpWho you are:/pulliBachelors degree in Accounting./lili7 years of accounting and 3 years supervisory experience required./liliCPA preferred./liliComfortable recommending actions on the basis of technical accounting research and analysis./liliEnergy and/or utility company experience./liliStrong technical capabilities with deep expertise in accounting policies./liliMust be self-motivated, detail oriented, and a hands-on leader./liliProficiency in Excel and ERP accounting system applications./liliBusiness acumen with ability to be flexible or firm, as needed, must be a strategic team player who is able to drive decisions in a collaborative culture./liliCredibility across the Company with infallible integrity and ethical standards./liliHigh energy, well organized and process driven with a continuous improvement focus./liliOutstanding written and verbal communication skills./li/ulpChesapeake Utilities Corporation is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse workforce.
