Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Accounting and Operations Manager provides leadership across core operational and accounting functions, ensuring efficiency, regulatory compliance, and service excellence throughout the Credit Union. This role partners closely with the CEO and leadership team to translate strategy into execution, drive operational performance, and support sustainable growth. The role is a strategic, collaborative, and results‑driven leader with deep operations and accounting services experience who is committed to fostering a high‑performing culture and delivering exceptional value. As a key member of the leadership team in a small, growing credit union, this position balances technical accounting expertise with operational oversight and plays a critical role in safeguarding assets, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring that financial and operational processes support sustainable growth and excellent member service. Essential Job Functions Partner with the CEO to support enterprise strategy and long‑term sustainable growth Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, marketing, product development, and lending teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution of strategies Develop, manage and maintain reliable accounting information and reporting of income, expenses, assets, liability and capital for leadership planning and decision making and for fulfillment of financial reporting requirements Monitor the credit union’s investment portfolio to assure timely investment decisions as investments mature. Choose investments consistent with prevailing economic conditions, the credit union’s assets/liability mix, and the credit union’s goals of safety, liquidity, and yield within policy guidelines. Collaborate with finance and executive teams to develop budgets and financial plans Reconcile GL and bank accounts Oversee and manage the activities of the accounting and operations departments Ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proven track record of success in accounting, finance, operations, strategy, and leadership Demonstrated experience in identifying, measuring, and mitigating threats to an organization’s financial health Demonstrated experience in managing multiple departments, staff and projects Strong understanding of asset liability management and investment opportunities Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and results‑driven environment Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically Considerable knowledge of general accounting practices, including compliance with financial reporting, budgeting and forecasts Considerable knowledge of credit union law, regulations, policies, procedures, programs, services, and products Desirable Experience, Education, and Training Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting or another related field. Five or more years of progressive leadership experience with prior credit union or banking experience preferred.
