The Accounting Specialist supports the daily accounting operations of the company with primary responsibility for cash application activities and support of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. This role also assists with billing, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month‑end close activities. The Accounting Specialist plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial records and supporting financial analysis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities Prepare, enter, and reconcile daily cash receipts; generate related cash and accounts receivable reports Manage initial client deposits, including tracking, application, and processing of refunds as applicable Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, including billing support Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes Prepare journal entries and assist with account reconciliations Maintain accurate and timely updates in the company accounting system Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Accounting team Assist with the preparation of financial information and basic analyses in accordance with GAAP Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting or finance experience Experience in a project‑based or professional services environment preferred Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial processes Exposure to project accounting and percentage‑of‑completion accounting practices preferred Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting or project management systems Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and related office applications Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively within a team We strive to provide a great company culture through a variety of team building events, including trivia nights, softball and volleyball leagues, mini golf tournaments, BBQ’s, happy hours, poker nights, catered weekly staff meetings, surfboard lending programs, and more.
