About VGH Virginia Gay Hospital, established in Vinton in 1923, is an independent, nonprofit critical access hospital supported by a strong local community. The organization includes a 25-bed hospital and four family medical clinics located throughout Benton County, Iowa, offering high-quality, local healthcare and opportunities for professional growth and meaningful patient relationships. Full-time, Monday through Friday. Position Summary Primary responsibility for accounts payable activities. Shared duties include accounts receivable, payroll, collections, and other accounting functions. Review and enter all invoices and purchase orders received for payment on a weekly basis. Code each invoice with the appropriate GL number and send to department managers for approval. Enter all patient and insurance refunds received weekly. Track and log all refund check numbers and dates on the check request spreadsheet. Process weekly A/P check run and ensure payments are mailed on time. Work with new vendors to obtain current W‑9s as part of the new vendor approval process. Track contracted staffing by department, recording hours as the invoiced staffing contracts are received. Assist with completion of 1099 forms at year‑end. Process payroll as needed, at a minimum every third payroll cycle. Review timesheets, make manual adjustments, monitor PTO, generate reports, and verify that all employee deductions are correct. Complete the deposit summary for the daily deposit, verify deposit accuracy, initiate and enter journal entry into CPSI, and forward for review. Assist with monthly reimbursement projects. Assist with financial audit, payer cost reports, and tax return preparation. Assist with month‑end close process for GL, A/P, A/R, and bank reconciliation. Perform general ledger account reconciliations as assigned. Responsible for asset management, including depreciation expense and disposals. Initiate journal entries as needed. Support purchasing and inventory management responsibilities. Proficiency with Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and charts/graphs. Other duties as assigned.
