Accounts Payable ClerkThe Accounts Payable Clerk supports the financial operations of the organization by processing vendor invoices, managing payments, and maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards, donor requirements, and internal controls. The role plays a key part in ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective use of organizational funds.Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929. Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services.Principle ResponsibilitiesVerify invoices for proper authorization, coding, and supporting documentationProcess vendor and service provider invoices accurately and timelyMaintain accounts payable records in compliance with nonprofit and donor regulationsGenerate and prepare payments using multiple systems in conjunction with Sage IntactReconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepanciesEnsure expenses are allocated correctly to programs, grants, and funding sourcesWhen needed, assist with month-end closing and yearly auditsRespond to vendor and internal staff inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account balancesMaintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical financial practicesRequired Qualifications and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED required.Experience in accounts payable, preferably in a nonprofit or donor-funded environmentKnowledge of basic accounting principles and AP proceduresStrong attention to detail and accuracyPreferable, experience with accounting systems Sage IntactProficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office toolsAbility to meet deadlines in a structured compliance environmentPreferred QualificationsAssociate's degree preferred.This position offers a full-time, hybrid schedule and is based in Wading River, NY.The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the incumbent in this position.
