THE POSITION

Washington County is now hiring a Senior Accounting Assistant to join our Finance Department! In this position, you will be the final internal audit and review for all County invoices. You will also provide guidance and training to other employees throughout the county that are involved in the Accounts Payable process. We are looking for an individual who has a passion for developing and implementing new processes and procedures, with an emphasis on internal controls.

Duties of this position include:


  • Reviewing invoices received from all county departments for accuracy.
  • Reconciling various accounts between Accounts Payable and General Ledger.
  • Assisting in escheatment process/unclaimed property turnover.
  • Participating in annual external audit.
Our ideal candidate has:
  • Experience processing full cycle accounts payable invoices in an ERP system.
  • Robust reconciliation skills utilizing Excel.
  • Participated in or has knowledge of an ERP conversion.

This position has a hybrid work schedule and can work remotely 2 days a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:


  • Possession of an Associate's Degree in accounting, business, or related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
  • Accounting Certificate (12 months) AND three (3) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
  • Five (5) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
