Job Title: Accounts Receivable Manager Location: Alpine Department: Accounting Services Department Job No.: 998940 Posting Date: 01/16/2026 Until Filled: Yes Salary: $57,866 Job Summary The Accounts Receivable Manager oversees financial activities for students in both on‑campus and accelerated online programs at Sul Ross State University. Responsibilities include tuition and fee processing, collections, refunds, third‑party billing, and compliance with state regulations. The role provides oversight for student business services across the campus network. Key Responsibilities Coordinate student business services and ensure tuition and fee processing aligns with state reporting deadlines for all campuses. Collaborate with staff to resolve student account issues and maintain compliance. Respond promptly to student inquiries via email and phone and review/approve or deny refund requests outside standard policy. Monitor and maintain budget revenue and expenditures; review and enter accounting data for faculty payments. Supervise accounts receivable and cashier staff; foster teamwork, set goals, monitor time‑off usage, and conduct performance evaluations. Manage online dual credit program tuition payments, deliver notifications, and process refunds to students or lenders. Manage overdue accounts and initiate collections when necessary across campuses. Create journal entries for the finance office for funds deposited at the bank or received by campus offices. Collaborate with Housing and Aramark to reconcile student meal plans and ensure timely vendor payments. Provide backup coverage for all positions reporting to the Accounts Receivable Manager during prolonged absences. Respond to additional duties as assigned to meet university needs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field, or four or more years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the degree requirement. Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in student financial services, accounting, or business operations. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple priorities. Ability to lead and supervise staff and manage stressful situations professionally. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Preferred Qualifications Five or more years of experience in student financial services, accounting, or business operations. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling documents, and occasional lifting of office materials up to 20 pounds. Working Conditions Standard office environment with moderate noise levels; frequent interaction with students, staff, and external vendors. Occasional extended hours may be required during peak periods such as registration and billing deadlines. Minimal travel may be necessary for training or university‑related meetings.
