Apple Tree Dental is a nationally recognized, innovative non-profit group practice committed to delivering comprehensive, high-quality dental care to patients of all ages and abilities. We serve communities both at our Centers for Dental Health and through mobile and on-site services in long-term care and assisted living facilities, Head Start centers, group homes, and schools.

We are currently seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Corporate Team at our New Brighton center. This role is an essential part of our Billing department, responsible for posting insurance payments, allocating the payments to the proper services, following up on insurance denials, and resubmitting as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Enters checks and electronic payments from insurance companies and public programs (for selected locations) into Open Dental
  • Enters direct patient payments for the Twin Cities program 
  • Allocates payments to the proper services/visit 
  • Follows up on denied claims 
  • Reviews aging reports related to insurance. This includes investigating late payments and resolving (for selected locations) 
  • Gathers payments from all Accounts Receivable staff as well as other cash/checks received for the day, and do the daily deposit(s) electronically, or at the bank in the case of cash
  • Provides backup support for the Billing Specialist and Collection Specialist
  • Assisting individual clinics with various administrative duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience working with Microsoft software, including Word and Excel
  • Experience with dental/medical software, such as, but not limited to, Open Dental
  • Billing and Collections experience preferred

  • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent math skills
  • Ability to work in a team, and willingness to be the back up person for others on the accounting team

Physical Demands
  • This position requires sitting, walking and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Manual dexterity is needed for using a calculator, adding machine and keyboard
