The University of Virginia seeks an Administrative Assistant to support the Digital Technology Core (DTS) funded by the Universitys Grand Challenges initiative. The Grand Challenges advance research across the University and create new opportunities for faculty and others in the university research community to collaborate across disciplines. Specifically, the University is launching this new Digital Technology Core as a resource hub for faculty engaged in novel research involving digital technology. The DTC will address a critical need expressed by UVA faculty for enhanced resources, expertise, and infrastructure. The DTC, housed within Research Computing, will work with researchers looking to integrate innovative mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies (e.g., wearables, smartphones, etc.), next generation sensing and cloud computing in their research.

The position reports to the DTC Associate Director and will involve working with a dynamic team to provide administrative support for initiative activities. This will include coordinating surveys, scheduling and coordinating meetings for consults and active projects, helping to organize training workshops and research community meetings, organizing seed grant applications, reporting, and assisting with marketing efforts to publicize the new DTC to the UVA community.

This position is in Charlottesville, VA, and will require occasional onsite program/event support and meeting attendance, though some remote work may also be permitted.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and three (3) years of relevant experience. Four (4) additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Strong organizational skills, and comfort using a range of office administrative programs (e.g., Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint) are required.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously,

  • Excellent communication skills, and have demonstrated abilities to cultivate and work on collaborative, diverse teams.

  • Preference will be given to candidates that have experience in fields relevant to digital technologies and domains such as health and education, this includes coursework and research

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with full-time benefits. For more information on the benefits at UVA, visit hr.virginia.edu/benefits.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $55,000 - $65,000, commensurate with education and experience.

The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.

This is a term limited position with an end date of December 1, 2029.
