Job Summary

Under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Director of Teacher Preparation and Advising Center (TPAC) and in close collaboration with the Director of the Single Subject Program and Assistant Director of the Credential Center, the Administrative Assistant supports the Single Subject Credential Program, Credential Center and Teacher Preparation Advising Center in assisting a diverse student population in all Initial Teacher Credential Programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and support office visitors. Serve as the initial point of contact in greeting a diverse population of current and prospective students, staff and faculty.
  • General office support: Assist advisors with digital flyers, social media, and newsletter communications.
  • Program support: Assist in the set up and monitor submissions of all formative and summative student teaching evaluations and induction plans.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and to be a team player. Ability to work in fast-paced environment. Ability to collaborate with administrators, staff and faculty in a support role. Ability to interact politely. Has patience, be professional, and efficiently interact with many visitors and callers. Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling is required. Must provide evidence of initiative in creating solutions, supporting projects, and improving communications.

Must be willing to participate in Staff Governance in the College and engage in staff professional development activities. Must be professional in presentation, work ethic, and follow-through. Demonstrates interest in supporting student success. Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Excel and Word. Knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft. Knowledge and experience with university policies and procedures.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a \\\"vision of excellence.\\\"

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with student support services as a student or staff member.
  • Equity-minded with proven experience working with diverse populations.
  • Working knowledge of a university academic environment.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,159 per month.

Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for two years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
