Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) seeks one Administrative Secretary - Innovative Programming (job #HOU 048-2023) for its Houston Branch Office.

LSLA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit law firm and its mission is to protect and advance the civil rights of low-income Texans by providing advocacy, legal representation, and community education that ensure equal access to justice.

Summary of Responsibilities

This position performs secretarial duties and administrative support and assists with management tasks on behalf of the Grant Manager.

Principle Duties

Must have excellent telephone skills, ability to organize, plan and oversee activities both on and off LSLA premises. Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards, which is required due to the sensitive nature of management staff and client information. Must be able to work within a team environment and contribute to the synergy of a creative group that constantly seeks innovative ways of providing client services.

Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of college preferred.

Minimum Skills and Experience Required

Must be proficient in MS Office Professional and have a working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat. A willingness to learn new software is helpful. 60 wpm. This person must also have exemplary office clerical skills, demonstrated ability to maintain professional relationships with employees, managers, and the public. Strong oral communications skills, proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and mathematics are required. Three years of secretarial experience is preferred with at least one year administrative or executive experience.

Mental and Aptitude Requirements

This worker must be organized, punctual, self-sufficient and able to work independently. This person must also have the ability to work under pressure.
