Main Purpose of Job

Incumbent in this position provides administrative support to the Child Support Specialist I/II agents in the Programs Unit by processing medical and termination notices received in accordance with Federal, State and local child support policies, procedures and guidelines.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Reviews, analyzes and processes the National Medical Support Notices and Termination Notices received.
  • Updates CSMS with the insurance information provided and recommends follow up actions to the assigned Child Support Specialist II.
  • Consults with custodial parents , non-custodial parents, employers, and other Child Support Specialist Staff.
  • Responds to inquiries received as it relates to National Medical Support and Termination notices.
  • Creates, edits and prepares a variety of documents in relation to the National Medical Support Notices and Termination Notices received for the purpose of enforcing medical report and collecting support payments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Ability to compose routine and complex business correspondence.

Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of records, reports, and other material.

Ability to work with and provide excellent customer service to executive leadership, internal and external customers.


Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Experience as an administrative assistant to a Manager or Director.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

For all foreign education obtained outside the U. S. you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service if selected for an interview.
