Administrative Support Specialist - Apply
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus. This position has an appointment period of 11-months per year.
Positions primary responsibilities includes management of phone calls coming into health services. On a typical day the department receives over 500 phone calls, many of those are patients scheduling appointments. This position will be responsible for assisting those callers get the appointment or information that they need. This position will also assist with routing mail, faxes, departmental emails to the right location and follow up to questions as needed and assist with the flow of information to the medical record as appropriate. Position will interact with all staff in University Health Services and will also help coordinate appointments for patients referred from Counseling Services, Athletics, and Workers Comp injuries.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
This position will demonstrate an understanding of the following:
- Medical Documentation (written and electronic)
- Proficient use of windows-based computer systems
- Operation of general office equipment
- General Knowledge of NC Immunization laws
- HIPAA
- Broad knowledge of typical primary care patient complaints.
- Provide excellent customer service
- Express ideas clearly and accurately, orally and in writing
- Display etiquette in (face-to-face; telephone; and electronic) communication and business functions
- Demonstrable focused customer service skills
- Employ tact, discretion and patience
- Self-motivation
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
