An Adult Residential Facility (ARF) Administrator manages the daily operations of a licensed residential care facility, ensuring compliance with state regulations (Title 17/22). They are responsible for staff supervision, resident care planning, budget management, and safety. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and certification to support individuals with developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the facility adheres to state regulations, including Title 17 and 22, to maintain licensing.
- Operational Management: Overseeing daily facility operations, which includes developing operating plans and maintaining financial and employee records.
- Resident Care: Developing and implementing Individual Service Plans (ISPs), monitoring medications, and managing health and safety.
- Staff Leadership: Hiring, training, and supervising direct care staff to ensure high-quality care and support.
- Communication: Acting as the liaison between the facility, residents' families, and healthcare professionals.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Age/Education: Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or GED; college experience is preferred.
- Certification: Must pass a certification exam and complete initial and ongoing training required by the California Department of Social Services.
- Experience: Often requires at least 2 years of experience as an administrator in a Level 4 home.
- Skills: Strong leadership, organization, and crisis management skills are essential.
