This position is located in Wilburton, Poteau, or Idabel, Oklahoma.

Adult Protective Services Specialist II/III

This is a Level III vacancy, eligible for a level II underfill. Candidates hired at a Level II can be eligible for a level III if all requirements are met.

Annual salary:

Level II - H26B : $41,770.21 +

Level III - H26C : $45.947.21 +

Job-related Travel is Extensive. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance.

This position plays an integral part in keeping vulnerable Oklahoma adults safe. In this position, you will receive and investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. You will determine the capacity and provide voluntary or involuntary services based on needs, and you'll coordinate service plans, prepare legal forms, attend court hearings, and provide testimony as necessary.

Hires will be eligible for the complete state benefits package which includes paid time off, retirement contribution plans with employer matching, and health care allowances.

Minimum Qualifications

Level II

The applicant may have:
  • Master's degree;
  • OR a bachelor's degree and one year of experience in professional social work.
Level III
  • The applicant may either have a Master's degree plus one year of professional social work experience.
  • OR a bachelor's degree and two years of experience in professional social work.
Job Duties

Level II:
  • Receive intakes and complete investigations involving appropriate documentation on incapacitated adults alleged to be in situations of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or exploitation;
  • Ensure and apply self-protection techniques;
  • Perform complete assessment and determine appropriate interventions for each case;
  • Make collateral contacts to gather additional information on the adult's history, determining the urgency of each adult's situation;
  • Initiate and follow through on court proceedings for involuntary protective services, and serve as a temporary guardian for adults acting within the boundaries ordered by the court;
  • Involve the adult (if possible) family, and other caregivers in the development of a service plan to meet the adult's needs, and provide follow-up visits as specified by policy or more often as needed.
Level III:

Employees are designated as lead workers, mentors, or backup supervisors to Level I or Level II Adult Protective Services Specialists.
  • Employees at this level act as mentors to Level I staff, and provide case consultation and advise and train lower-level APS Specialists in case management and interpretation of policies and procedures;
  • May monitor investigations and treatment plans of lower-level staff for quality assurance purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned
