Advanced Practice Nurse (Family Practice)Advanced Practice Nurse (Family Practice), located at Kittery, Maine. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire SolicitationDutiesProvide primary care services to patients ranging in ages from infant through geriatric in a primary health care clinic of a military medical treatment facility.Examine patient and performs initial patient work-up and assessment of patient's care and treatment.Order laboratory tests, X-rays, etc. and arrange for physician consultation if required.Work independently and collaboratively with physicians in patient management, evaluation, and revision of therapeutic plans.Diagnose disease, illness, disorder or injury, and institute treatment of patients.Write prescriptions, order the administration of medications, dispense medications, and prescribe controlled substance in accordance with scope of practice for Nurse Practitioners.Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members regarding treatment and medical care.RequirementsAppointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.A Personnel Security Investigation is required.This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.A pre-placement medical examination/physical is required.Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.This position requires current Certified Child Life Specialist credentials from an accredited institution.Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
