About the Position This position is located at Naval Hospital, Directorate of Surgery, OB/GYN, Camp Pendleton, CA. Advance in Hire may be authorized. This is available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Advance Leave Accrual may be authorized. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Duties Provision of full-scope gynecologic services such as well women exams, contraceptive care, preventative health screenings, and family planning. Collaborates with a variety of health providers such as obstetricians, pediatrics anesthesiology, and/or nursing staff. Utilizing electronic health records such as MHS Genesis for documentation, order entry, and/or care coordination. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice implementation, or clinical protocol development. Independent management of low- and moderate-risk intrapartum patients performing ongoing assessment of maternal and fetal status, labor progress, and interventions. Identifies and treats postpartum complications such as pain, urological complaints, bleeding abnormalities, hormonal dysfunction and infections. Performs initial and ongoing risk assessments, interprets diagnostic data and laboratory results, and manages common obstetric complications. Develops and provides patient-centered education and counseling regarding the antepartum course, preventative health, and self-care. Requirements Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series. One year trial/probationary period may be required. This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals). A pre-placement medical examination is required. Required to lift moderately heavy items in the regular performance of duties. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. This position is a Testing Designated Position. All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations. Position may require on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
