Summary Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner), GS-13 position serving as a Nurse Practitioner at detention facilities staffed by the ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC) to provide medical, dental, and mental health care to detainees in ICE custody. Duties Maintain compliance with IHSC policies and applicable standards within scope of IHSC Clinical Guidelines and accreditation requirements. Perform comprehensive, age‑specific history and physical examinations, including gynecological and pediatric exams/procedures. Provide appropriate primary and urgent care to detainees within scope of practice/privileges. Coordinate patient health‑care needs and referrals using a multidisciplinary approach and with off‑site providers. Maintain patient/medical record confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations. Conditions of Employment U.S. citizenship is required. Successful completion of a background investigation. Successful completion of a drug screen. Males born after 12/31/59 must certify registration with Selective Service. Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including weekends, nights, holidays, and other times as directed. Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare provider certification. Probationary period may be required for the first year. Qualifications Education Graduate or higher level degree in Nursing from an accredited program in the specialty area, accredited by CCNE or other recognized accrediting bodies. For foreign nursing graduates, commission certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required. Licensure Pass the National Council Licensure Examination‑RN. Current, active, unrestricted license in a State, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory. Unrestricted license or registration in the clinical specialty required for Advanced Practice Nurse positions. Experience At least one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to GS‑12 grade level in the federal service, or an equivalent private or public sector experience providing direct nursing care, coordinating care, responding to emergencies, administering medications, and maintaining medical equipment. Additional Requirements Continuing education must be maintained as required for licensing and board certification. Experience in national service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) is credited, where applicable. Location Florida, Arizona; Houston, Texas; Jena, Louisiana.
