Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship: Orthopaedic Surgery - Health Sciences Clinical Instructor Salary range: $90,000. Includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Location: Sacramento, CA (UC Davis Health). Overview Full‑time, 12‑month instructor positions in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series at UC Davis Health. The role integrates a transition‑to‑practice clinical experience with clinical teaching activities within a structured, guided learning environment. Clinical Responsibilities Participate in a structured, mentored program to develop advanced clinical knowledge, skills, professional behaviors, and practice management for APP Fellowship specialty track providers. Prepare for independent clinical practice and develop skills for a clinical preceptor, instructor or educator. Teaching Responsibilities Limited to one clinical education activity if appropriate for students, nursing staff, or peers. Participate in at least one of the following: precepting an NP or PA student, providing lectures to NP and PA students, co‑leading clinical skill labs, facilitating small groups during simulations or case discussions, teaching clinical procedures, providing feedback, or assisting with training. Involvement in a limited scholarly activity and committee service commensurate with the position. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application): Graduation from an accredited Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG‑ACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Physician Assistant program with an MS, MSN, DNP or PA within 18 months of program start. Master’s‑degree or doctorally prepared applicants with a postgraduate nurse practitioner or physician assistant certificate are eligible. Additional qualifications (required at time of start): Current California registered nurse, nurse practitioner, and drug/device furnishing licenses from the California BRN without restrictions (NP) or a current California physician assistant license without restrictions (PA). Completion of the Schedule II opiate prescribing course in preparation for DEA license. National Board Certification. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Current Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification. Requirements Submit a personal statement of purpose, curriculum vitae, SkillSurvey reference check with a minimum of three completed references, transcript, and statement on contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion. All applicants must be licensed as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in California by the start of the program (January 1, 2026). Must graduate within 18 months of the program start (no earlier than July 1, 2025). Benefits Salary funded for one year by UC Davis Health Patient Care Services.
