The University of California, Riverside seeks applications for a postdoctoral scholar position. The postdoctoral scholar will work withgraduate students and the PI to perform mobile aerosol measurements of sub-10 nm particles within the Los Angeles metropolitan area throughan EPA funded project. The objectives are to determine city-scale sub-10 nm concentrations, generating a source inventory describingemissions from selected sources, and developing a target inventory that will highlight geographic areas with a high likelihood of havinghigh-toxicity sources. The project will provide opportunities for laboratory work, field work, and modeling activities.

The BournsCollege of Engineering, Center for Environmental Research & Technology (CE-CERT)s mission is to be a recognized leader inenvironmental education, a collaborator with industry and government to improve the technical basis for regulations and policy, a creativesource of new technology, and a contributor to a better understanding of the environment. Established in 1992 and now operating as thelargest research center at the University of California at Riverside, CE-CERT brings together multiple disciplines throughout campus toaddress societys most pressing environmental challenges in air quality, climate change, energy, and transportation. CE-CERTsactivities encompass all three aspects of the University of Californias overarching mission: research, education, and publicservice.

Candidates must have strong analytical skills and experience with instrumental approaches for measurement of atmosphericaerosols. Applications will be assessed using the achievement(s) relative to opportunity framework (further information below).

Requirements for the position include:

1. Demonstrated experience with atmospheric measurements;

2.Recent accomplishments demonstrating graduate-level and/or postdoctoral research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications;

3.Ph.D. in a relevant science or engineering field;

4. Licensed to drive regular vehicles in the U.S. or able to demonstrate that avalid driving license can be obtained within a few weeks of the start of the position.

Preferred qualifications include oneor more of the following:

1. Experience with analyzing data from field studies;

2. Experience with transmission orscanning electron microscopy;

3. Experience with statistical data analysis approaches;

4. Proficiency with software programsand programming languages including Julia, Python or equivalents;

5. Experience with dispersion modeling.
