Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer
SmartHire is looking for an Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer with STRONG knowledge within Aerospace, Boat Manufacturing or similar industry. Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing shop, along with strong technical experience. This is a full time, direct hire role in Sumner WA.
Compensation:
Starting at $33 an hour. DOE

Position Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented Process Engineer/Planner with strong estimating experience to support aerospace manufacturing operations. This role bridges customer requirements and production, translating technical drawings into executable manufacturing plans while ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Blueprint & Drawing Review
·Analyze complex 2D/3D drawings (GD&T) for manufacturability
·Create 2D/3D drawings per MBD requirements
Manufacturing Planning
·Develop complete routers/work instructions from raw material through final inspection
·Build and maintain BOMs and part data in ERP
Resource Planning
·Determine material, tooling, and machine time requirements (CNC mills, lathes, etc.)
Quality & Non-Conformance
·Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventative actions
·Support rework and repair activities
Cost Estimating
·Partner with estimating team to develop labor, material, and overhead quotes
New Product Introduction (NPI)
·Support prototyping and provide DFM feedback
Continuous Improvement
·Analyze estimated vs. actual production times to improve efficiency and margin
·Lead manufacturing change board meetings
·Support shop floor teams with compliance, discrepancies, and testing
Qualifications
·5+ years in manufacturing engineering, planning, or estimating (aerospace preferred)
·Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
·Expertise in aerospace-grade materials and outside processing (heat treat, plating, coatings, etc.)
·Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience)
·Strong collaboration and communication skills
·CAD/CAM experience (Discus, Enovia, CATIA, Mastercam)
·AS9100 knowledge
·Small-batch or high-precision manufacturing experience
·High attention to detail, strong multitasking ability
·Excellent communication and time management skills
·Ability to work in a shop/office environment (standing, sitting, bending as needed)
