Farmers Equipment Company is a full-service agricultural and material handling equipment dealership with locations in both Lynden and Burlington, representing Case IH, TYM, Komatsu, Krone, Oxbo and more. We currently have an opening for an Agricultural Machinist to serve customers at our Lynden location.


Primary responsibilities include:


• Welding and Fabrication:

o Perform a variety of repairs on all farm equipment, including welding and fabricating new or replacement parts for heavy equipment, such as agricultural, construction, forklift, irrigation, and berry harvester equipment.

o Utilize various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, on materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, ensuring high-quality, durable welds.

o Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and sketches to determine project design, layout, and specifications for fabrication and repair.

o Measure, cut, bend, and shape metal components using fabrication tools like plasma cutters, oxy-acetylene torches, shears, press brakes, grinders, and ironworkers.

o Assemble new equipment to prepare for display or delivery to the customer.

o Design and fabricate specialized jigs, fixtures, parts, and structures to meet customer needs or repair requirements.

• Machining and Repair:

o Perform machining of parts, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding, using lathes and milling machines.

o Troubleshoot problems and come up with solutions to repair equipment, often involving remanufacturing broken or custom parts to precise specifications.

o Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure parts and assemblies meet tight tolerances and quality standards.

o Perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems as needed.

• Shop Operations and Communication:

o Complete all required paperwork, including detailed repair orders, time spent, and materials used.

o Effectively communicate with Service Staff when questions arise on repair orders and scheduling of work.

o Communicate with the Parts Department on ordering required parts, materials, and specialty items.

o Maintain a clean and organized work area in the shop and on the grounds, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and regulations.



Requirements include:

o High school diploma or equivalent.

o Minimum two (2) years of directly applicable experience as a Welder/Fabricator or Agricultural/Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

o General working knowledge of standard farm equipment and/or heavy construction machinery.

o Demonstrated experience with milling and lathe operations.

o Proven proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) and metal fabrication.

o Welding certification preferred (e.g., AWS, WABO).

o Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

o Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

o Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical schematics.

o Valid driver’s license and clear driving record.

o Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting objects up to 75 pounds and standing for extended periods.


$30-38 per hour. Comprehensive benefit package including fully paid employee medical and dental, life insurance, paid time off, sick leave, 401(k), and more. Additional information on benefits offered can be found at details: 30-38 Hourly Wage
