Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and makes repairs on industrial/commercial Air Handling Units with associated equipment including chill-water coils, steam or hot-water coils, remotely controlled valve actuators, belt-driven supply and return fans and motors, actuated air dampers, humidifiers, air filters, temperature and humidity sensors, static pressure sensors, freezestats, etc.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and makes repairs on all commercial walk-in coolers/freezers and associated equipment including, but not limited to all remote compressors ,remote condensers, evaporators, thermostats, sensors, defrost timers, expansion valves, solenoids, etc.
  • Ensures proper function of each Air Handling Unit and completes visual inspections of filters ,belts, motors, fans, bearings, alignment, access door gaskets, damper movement, actuator valve movement, air or water leakage, sensors, and freeze-stat operation.
  • Performs all preventative maintenance (PM) inspections in accordance with manufacturer's specifications or to any superseded VAMC policy.
  • Ensures proper function of air-cooled chillers and completes visual inspections of chiller, chiller controls, actuator valves, thermometers, pressure gauges, differential pressure sensors, flow switches, etc.
  • Uses balometer capture hoods to determine air flow readings at ductwork registers and diffusers in order to calculate room air changes.
  • Utilizes skills in the use and maintenance of some hand-held power tools and a wide variety of hand tools.
    Maintains all tools, test equipment, and personal protective equipment in good working order and ensuring that they are cleaned and stored properly after each use.
  • Accomplishes all work in accordance with applicable electrical, mechanical, and pipefitting safety codes related to their trade.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
