Position Overview:

A leading precision manufacturing company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in cold forming processes. This role involves the design, analysis, and validation of tooling used in cold heading and forming operations. The engineer will play a key role in driving process improvements, supporting manufacturing operations, and ensuring tooling is delivered to meet specifications related to quality, cost, and delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented engineer with a passion for tooling innovation and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design cold forming tools and related gauges that meet blueprint and specification requirements.
  • Develop, review, and maintain digital tool models, drawings, and documentation.
  • Perform calculations and run software simulations to validate tool designs.
  • Generate and track tooling work orders; support procurement and implementation.
  • Conduct tooling improvement studies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting tooling or forming issues.
  • Assist in training team members on identifying and resolving tool-related failures.
  • Ensure adherence to internal engineering procedures and industry standards.
  • Contribute to cost reduction, quality enhancement, and uptime optimization efforts.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cold forming processes and tool design fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Experience with simulation software for validating tool designs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of managing multiple engineering projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in technical documentation and engineering reporting.
  • Experience with cold forming equipment such as Nedschroef and National machines is preferred.
  • Background in specifying gauges and tools for precision components with micron-level tolerances is a plus
