This job description for the Regional Sales Manager outlines a highly specialized role focused on driving sales and business development for our company, which designs and builds equipment for processing various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. The role requires not only technical knowledge of the industry, but also strong sales acumen, particularly in consultative selling and handling complex sales that involve multiple departments within a customer organization.
Salary - 80k -90k
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Driving the top-line growth of the business by expanding market share, securing purchase orders, and achieving sales targets in the assigned region.
- Customer Relationships: Acting as the primary contact for customers, developing, and maintaining relationships, and using customer feedback to guide sales efforts.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the VP Sales and Marketing, other Regional Sales Managers, and the Inside Sales Manager to develop segment-based marketing strategies, coordinate sales efforts, and ensure best practices are shared across the organization.
- Technical Expertise: Developing an expert understanding of our products, reading engineering drawings, and understanding technical specifications to make informed recommendations to customers.
- Travel: The role requires significant travel (up to 80%) within the assigned region to engage with customers, conduct sales meetings, and ensure a strong presence in the market.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Sales and Technical Expertise: Experience with complex sales of industrial engineered products, particularly in a manufacturing environment, and familiarity with materials like tool steels, ceramics, and tungsten carbide.
- Communication and Presentation: Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective elevator pitches and speak confidently in business and industrial settings.
- Consultative Selling: Experience with consultative sales techniques, such as those taught in Dale Carnegie training programs, is highly valued.
- Data Management: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly adapt to our company's IT systems to support sales efforts.
- Goal-Oriented: A focus on achieving both short-term and long-term sales goals, with the ability to balance the pursuit of sales volume with the maintenance of acceptable profit margins.
