Pay Rate: $48 per hour + Travel Stipends if applicable
Schedule: TBD - 40 hours per week

Contract Length: 6-month, with the option to extend

Job Description:

The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse provides comprehensive outpatient nursing services in support of the Indian Health Service mission at Shiprock. This role delivers direct patient care across the lifespan, supports clinic operations, and ensures compliance with federal healthcare regulations, clinical standards, and patient safety requirements in an ambulatory setting.
Requirements:

  • Minimum of thirty-six (36) months of nursing experience, including at least two (2) years in ambulatory or specialty outpatient care

  • Active, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Required certifications based on duty assignment: ACLS, PALS, NLS, ATCN or TNCC

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct outpatient nursing care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients

  • Perform patient assessments, triage, and nursing reassessments in accordance with ambulatory care standards

  • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice

  • Perform IV therapy, venipuncture, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing

  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care

  • Accurately document all nursing care and interventions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)

  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, EMTALA, and HIPAA requirements

  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
