Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
The Analyst, Classification & Compensation is responsible for evaluating and analyzing job positions within the organization to determine appropriate job classifications and compensation levels. They ensure that job descriptions accurately reflect the duties, responsibilities, and required qualifications of each position, and they collaborate with HR teams, department managers, and finance to determine proper job classifications and salary structures. The Classification and Compensation Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring fairness, equity, and competitive compensation practices at LAHSA.

Conduct job evaluations and reviews to determine appropriate job classifications and salary ranges based on job duties, responsibilities, and required qualifications.
Analyze and interpret salary survey data to benchmark positions and ensure competitive compensation practices.
Develop and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date job descriptions that capture the essential functions and requirements of each position.
Collaborate with HR teams and department managers to determine the need for new job positions and to evaluate the impact of organizational changes on job classifications and compensation.
Review and revise existing job descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Regularly review and update salary tables as needed.
Recommend changes to job classifications and salary structures based on market trends, internal equity, and organizational needs.
Assist in the development and implementation of compensation programs, policies, and procedures.
Conduct salary audits and make adjustments when necessary to ensure fair and competitive compensation practices.
Participate in salary surveys and market research to stay informed about industry trends and best practices in compensation.
Provide guidance and support to HR teams, hiring managers, and employees regarding proper job classifications, compensation structures, and job descriptions.

In-depth knowledge of job evaluation methodologies and compensation principles.
Familiarity with relevant labor laws, regulations, and market trends impacting job classifications and compensation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in job evaluations and salary analysis.
Proficient in using HRIS systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate complex information to various stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Proven professional experience and educational background.
Schedule
- The Executive Director or designee may change the schedule of positions between remote, hybrid and onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA business.
