Position : Diesel Mechanic (Tractor & Trailer Reefer Equipment)
Location: Kansas City, KS
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic with hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing tractors and refrigerated trailers. This full-time role involves performing complete maintenance services on a fleet of over 30 trucks (primarily diesel) and more than 30 refrigerated trailers.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of direct experience in diesel equipment maintenance. However, recent graduates of accredited technical or vocational programs will also be considered.
A valid driver's license is required. Applicants must obtain a Class A CDL (manual transmission) within 90 days of hire - training assistance will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance and repair work on tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
Diagnose and repair systems including powertrain, electrical, suspension, exhaust, bodywork, and tires.
Conduct and document scheduled preventive maintenance accurately.
Demonstrate strong HVAC skills; CFC certification required.
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
Maintain and operate personal hand tools; specialized tools provided on-site.
Complete necessary reports and repair documentation using computer-based systems.
Support fleet drivers and collaborate with team members to ensure operational reliability.
Maintain professionalism and adhere to company policies at all times.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a diesel mechanic (or recent technical program graduate).
Strong understanding of diesel engines, refrigeration systems, and DOT standards.
CFC certification (HVAC).
Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Class A CDL within 90 days.
Must pass pre-employment screenings, including:
DOT Clearinghouse check
Background check
Drug test
Physical capacity and medical exams (must maintain valid DOT medical card).
Must complete a 90-day probationary period based on attendance, performance, and adherence to company policy.

Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $32.50/hour, paid weekly (reviewed annually)
Medical Insurance: Comprehensive coverage (effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment)
Single: $69.30/month
Family: $152.25/month
Dental Insurance: Provided at no cost when enrolled in medical coverage
401(k): Eligible after 90 days of employment
Vacation: One week (40 hours) after one year of continuous service
Paid Holidays: Following completion of a 90-day probationary period
Additional Benefits:
Company-provided uniforms
Annual boot allowance
Annual tool allowance
