Animal Care Technician Opening at the Lakes Region Humane Society in Ossipee!

Our Animal Care Technicians are responsible for the daily care, feeding, cleaning, exercise, enrichment, and observation of our furry friends at LRHS, ensuring their physical and mental health and well-being during their stay.

Payment: $18 per hour to start.

Schedule: this is a year-round, part-time position which, for the right person, could grow to become a full-time position. Our day begins at 8 am and ends at 4 pm. Candidates must be able to work on Sundays. We will work with the right candidate to solidify a set schedule.

Duties include:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing cat rooms, dog kennels, and common areas
  • Laundry, dishes, and restocking supplies
  • Monitoring and recording behavioral/medical needs of our cat and dog companions
  • Feeding and medicating cats and dogs
  • Walking and playing with dogs and socializing cats

Public interaction includes giving cat room tours, overseeing safe dog-dog meet and greet appointments, answering pet related questions and helping visitors find their purrrr-fect match. This role involves working closely with our small team of animal advocates. You'll assist with adoptions by processing applications and ensuring adopters are fully informed about the animal they intend to adopt.

LRHS team members are expected to lend a paw wherever needed and take on other tasks and projects as assigned by management. To succeed in this position, one must be dependable, hard-working, positive, kind, communicative, and patient with humans and animals alike.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to safely and humanely handle large and small animals using fear-free techniques (LRHS is willing to train you).
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate stairs while carrying items such 40-pound bags of litter or food (flex those meowscles!)
