For program details, visit Responsibilities Provide leadership and management at the Tifton Animal Science Farm, supervising full‑time and temporary staff. Work cooperatively with the FRS Superintendent, ADS Senior Farm Manager, and faculty to plan, organize, direct, implement, and complete daily operations. Oversee large animal care, farm operations, field preparation, planting, harvesting, and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Maintain herd and farm in neat and attractive condition; conduct routine animal care, including health assessments, vaccinations, treatments, branding/tagging, and documentation. Support research activities ranging from small plot to large‑scale field trials and animal feeding and grazing trials. Train, evaluate, and schedule work for staff; implement protocols for animal care, health, forage production, and procurement of feed, supplies, and equipment. Communicate with faculty and adhere to research protocols, ensuring integrity of research and study outcomes. Use the P‑Card to purchase necessary supplies and inventory in coordination with the ADS Senior Farm Manager and FRS Superintendent. Conduct positive coaching with students and support personnel; maintain electronic records, transaction logs, and farm operation documentation. Assist with farm visits, industry outreach, and field days; comply with all UGA/USG policies and training requirements. Assist at the Alapaha Range Grazing Station and Irwinville Bull Test Facility as needed. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent. Previous leadership or management experience with a multi‑functional team. Knowledge of livestock and forage production management practices for beef cattle. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work activities related to beef production, forage production, and field research. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with computer technology. Familiarity with low‑stress cattle handling and Beef Quality Assurance best practices. Ability to maintain effective working relationships and adapt to changing priorities based on weather and research goals. Capability to acquire and maintain required certifications and licenses. Technical competencies with seedbed preparation, planting, management, and harvest of forage crops. Physical Demands Lift, push, or carry up to 75 pounds. Work in environmental extremes and outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and wet. Work around livestock, including exposure to dust, noise, and smells.
