Animal Welfare Coordinater Apply
Summary
The Animal Welfare Coordinator will conduct animal welfare, regulatory, process evaluation, certification, and customer specific audits that pertain to live hogs. In addition to these audits and evaluations this job will assist the procurement manager in daily job responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Application of human handling and regulatory requirements and principles against established standards and protocols using analytical and objective evaluation of facility policies, practices, and observations.
Conduct animal welfare audits at the facility and farms.
Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of work and adhere to all procedures established by Prestage Foods of Iowa and its suppliers.
Assure consistency and accuracy in all audits and audit reports. Follow and adhere with all required protocol and procedures.
Planning and conducting schedule audits internally.
Represents the Company Brand in all interactions with management, producers, and strategic industry partners.
Investigating and auditing any issues with hog suppliers.
Develop and maintain KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and score cards to drive continuous improvement.
Advocate and maintain a strong commitment to safety in the operating process including but not limited to: PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tag out procedures, and Process Safety Management related matters.
Other duties as assigned.
Train all employees in the barn and butina on humane handling practices.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions from multiple sources.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with a desire and proven ability to communicate with people at all knowledge levels.
Must be able to travel up to 25% travel , may have a few non-overnight stays.
