The AP Accountant is responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Payable process and its effect upon the Chart of Accounts. This position works with the accounting operations team located at our headquarters in Hartselle, Alabama. Aspects of the job include: displaying initiative, analysis, problem-solving skills, improving, and maintaining the value of our processes and working with the Accounts Payable Manager to ensure the timely and accurate filing of monthly and annual financial information.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Process vendor invoicesFinancial analysis / reviewExecution of new supplier agreements in accordance with company compliance policiesResolution of issues in the procure-to-pay processUse tax application / managementEnsure compliance with Marmon's Standard Practice Instructions, Sarbanes Oxley, GAAP, FCPA and support internal auditsImplementing new processes and systems to ensure continue improvementAssist with month-end accounting, reporting and account reconciliationsReview new vendors and ensure the set up is within compliance policiesAd hoc projects as needed and other duties as requiredQualifications, Experience and Education:Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant1-3 years accounting experienceThorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principlesExperience in public accounting / fast-paced environment a plusStrong Excel skillsSelf-motivated, organized, with strong attention to detailStrong professional written and verbal communication skillsExperience in accounting for commodities and/or wire and cable industry an assetAbility to learn new software quicklyFollowing receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.We are an equal opportunity employer, and all applicants will be considered for employment without attention to their membership in any protected class.
