In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and mentor development team members. You will be responsible for ensuring that all technical solutions adhere to the established architecture, standards, and governance processes, while also supporting ongoing service initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Leadership & Guidance: Collaborate with architecture and development teams to perform code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned with pre-defined architecture and design. Provide technical and architectural guidance for various existing and planned Appian applications, platforms, middleware, third-party services, and databases. Design & Architecture Sessions: Lead technical design sessions with development teams, creating class models, sequence diagrams, and detailed design specifications to ensure alignment with architecture standards and best practices. Governance & Best Practices: Maintain governance process documentation and best practices, ensuring that all architectural decisions and design approaches are documented and accessible for all teams. Platform Management Support: Be an active member of the scrum team supporting service initiatives related to Appian. Provide expertise on system design, integration, and scaling across Appian environments. System Integrator Liaison: Serve as the dedicated architectural liaison for System Integrators (SIs) products in active development, ensuring alignment between development and architecture for seamless integration and delivery. Mentorship & Coaching: Mentor and coach development team members, providing guidance on architecture, design, coding standards, and best practices. Foster a collaborative, high-performance development environment. Collaboration with Technical Leaders: Collaborate with other technical leaders across the organization to ensure that all Appian-related initiatives are strategically aligned, well-planned, and executed in a consistent, scalable manner. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 8+ years of experience in Appian development and architecture, with a strong focus on complex system integration and technical leadership. Proven experience in leading architecture design and technical sessions, specifically within the Appian ecosystem. In-depth knowledge of Appian platform architecture, including Appian Gov Cloud, Appian Case Management. Strong experience in Appian integrations with third-party services, middleware, and databases. Proficiency with design patterns, class models, and sequence diagrams for Appian solutions. Expertise in establishing and maintaining architecture governance processes and best practices documentation. In-depth understanding of unit testing within Appian, expression rules and CI/CD integration. Experience implementing enterprise-level design patterns and frameworks at scale. Solid understanding of Appian platform limits, performance tuning, secure coding practices and optimization techniques. Strong troubleshooting skills with experience using Appian developer tools, debug logs, and performance monitoring tools. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools to support continuous integration and deployment. Hands-On experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation Technical Leadership: Ability to lead and influence technical teams, ensuring adherence to architectural standards while fostering innovation and continuous improvement. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues related to Appian platforms and integrations. Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders to drive alignment on architectural decisions and technical solutions. Mentorship & Coaching: Ability to mentor and develop developers, guiding them to higher levels of technical proficiency and ownership. Documentation & Best Practices: Commitment to maintaining clear, accessible documentation and enforcing best practices to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability in all solutions. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Appian certifications (e.g., Appian Lead Developer or Appian Senior Developer). Knowledge of advanced integration tools, APIs, and middleware for complex systems integration. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in cross-functional scrum teams. WORKING CONDITIONS Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00-5:00. Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs. Must have reliable internet service that allows for effective telecommuting.
