Application Analyst Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. In lieu of a degree, a combination of education and relevant experience totaling six (6) full-time years may be considered. Two (2) years of full-time, relevant technical Analyst experience. Experience in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Experience in developing APIs. Experience in C#, Java, or other programming languages. Experience in SQL Server tools such as SSMS. Experience in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) integration. Experience effectively translating functional business requirements into relevant technical specifications. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Degree. Experience with research administration functions. Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce or others. Experience working with Microsoft SSIS or SSRS. Experience coding with AI. Experience in full stack software development. Primary Purpose: The main purpose of this position is to provide information technology services and software that support enterprise applications for the university in research administration. The incumbent is responsible for business analysis, application design, programming, report development, troubleshooting, problem resolution, maintenance and documentation of applications, interfaces, and reports as well as the selection, analysis, configuration and maintenance of Software as a Service and/or hosted applications. The incumbent will collaborate with their colleagues from across the institution including the Office for Research and Innovation (OR&I) and the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) to build and maintain current and new features of enterprise applications including but not limited to the new Research Information Management System and Huron Research Suite. Duties Software Analysis and Support Reviews and analyzes the business needs; confers with users to evaluate requirements, discuss solutions and develop a plan of approach. Determines the deliverables, milestones and work required. Designs, builds, and maintains current and new features of the systems utilizing the provided technologies and software development platform. This includes all aspects of software development including: requirements gathering, analysis, design, developing, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance. Develops integrations between university systems to help streamline current business operations or system processes while ensuring data security and integrity. Develops and executes test plans for new systems, upgrades, and modifications; reviews testing outcomes for accuracy and completeness. Participates in meetings, training sessions, and go‑live support activities to ensure successful implementation and user adoption. Troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex system issues, recommends process improvements and provides ongoing support. Collaborates with other DoIT staff on new projects or application upgrades. Employs standards to ensure data accuracy, security and privacy of information. Advises management of potential breaches of data and systems security. In performance of all job duties, at all times is responsible for delivering optimal customer service, protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes. Build and Maintain Reports Develops and maintains reports for stakeholders such as OR&I and others, using SQL, SSRS, and other reporting tools from relational databases and other application data sources. Documents applications, reports, and interfaces to describe program objectives, use cases, development, logic, coding, configurations, corrections, and other elements required to ensure others have sufficient information to support. Manages all work and tracks tasks and issues using project tracking applications. Manages documentation in knowledge bases such as Confluence and others. Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Special Notes This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
