Job Summary The Application Engineering Co-Opis a technically inclined individual to aid in creating custom motor solutions that solve customer system issues for general industry applications. Responsibilities Assist engineers in performing motor tests Prepare motors, test fixtures, and various test equipment Collect data and summarize in a report using graphical analysis of the test data Assist engineers in troubleshooting motor issues Assemble, disassemble, and/or modify motors related to experimentation to determine improvements Use electronic and mechanical lab tools for various measurements to describe motor performance and features Prepare and ship motor samples to customers Work directly with applications engineering to solve application issues – also works with development, manufacturing and purchasing Assist applications engineering team in identifying and developing motor designs for customer's specific general industry systems Use calipers, a CMM, or a surface table to measure parts Write engineering change notices Run a dynamometer to test electric motors Assist with samples, customer approvals, manufacturing issues and UL approvals Estimate and track time required to perform customer and internal support Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Planned B.S. degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Ability to work 20 to 30 hours weekly Experience with electronics and the ability to use an oscilloscope are a plus Strong technical knowledge and hands on skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Results oriented, self-motivated – high achiever Strong analytical ability and strategic/critical thinker Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects efficiently Experience with Microsoft Excel Equal Employment Opportunity and Affi­dicative Action at Nidec Nidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affi­dicative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
