Job Title Applied Research Engineer 1 Overview Engine in the College of Engineering (COE), Center for Automotive Research (CAR) who conducts research in the areas of vehicle electrification and multi‑source grid‑connected systems; works with CAR faculty, staff, researchers, students and industry partners to develop and carry out research experiments and support sponsored research; extracts and analyzes experimental research results and prepares technical reports for sponsor reviews; prepares and presents papers/reports; writes, edits and/or approves progress and technical reports for sponsors; edits research results for publication and presentation; assists in identifying, writing and preparing proposals to pursue new funding opportunities; develops task lists, timelines, and budgets for research projects; attends relevant internal and external research meetings; supports teaching and training in electrified vehicle technologies. Qualifications Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Experience Required: 0-2 years in an engineering research capacity; ability to translate academic/practical knowledge into engineering research; manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work dynamically in a diverse team environment. Desired Qualifications Advanced degree in a relevant field of science or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in an academic research capacity; ability to independently meet research goals, solve problems, and develop scientific ideas. Salary The target hiring range is $26.78–$34.95 per hour. Actual salary varies based on factors including education, years of experience, internal equity, etc. Location & Position Type Location: Center for Automotive Research (0227). Position Type: Temporary (Fixed Term). Scheduled Hours: 20 per week. Shift: First Shift. Notes Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
