DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position you will assist the Tick Surveillance and Testing Program in conducting routine tick surveillance throughout the Commonwealth. While involved with the surveillance of ticks you will work closely with vector surveillance and Integrated Pest Management. These methods are used to collect biological samples, conduct analysis, and help protect against associated diseases with ticks. Additionally, you will prepare analysis and reports of Vector Management including investigative studies within tick and arthropod activity.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Limited-term, full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Overnight travel and overtime may be necessary when conducting statewide tick surveillance activities in areas far distances from the office.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

- A bachelor's degree with a major in a biological science, natural science, environmental science, or natural resource management, including or supplemented by six college credits in freshwater aquatic biology, aquatic ecology, aquatic botany, water pollution biology, entomology, limnology, or closely related aquatic science coursework; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six college credits in freshwater aquatic biology, aquatic ecology, aquatic botany, water pollution biology, entomology, limnology, or closely related aquatic science coursework.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
