Stoddard Architecture is growing and seeking an Architect with strong residential experience to join a design-focused, collaborative practice in Glen Head, NY. This role offers hands-on involvement in projects from start to finish, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to grow with the firm. Anticipated start date: January 2026. What You’ll Do Work on single-family residential projects from inception through completion Produce accurate, buildable AutoCAD construction documents (xref-based workflow) Coordinate with structural, civil, MEP, landscape, and interiors consultants Prepare and submit municipal filings with local villages and towns Measure existing conditions on site Observe construction in the field, gaining direct exposure to how drawings translate into built work Participate in client coordination Offer thoughtful design input when appropriate Support general office needs; organization and reliability are essential What We’re Looking For Minimum 3–5 years of single-family residential experience (5–10+ preferred; more is a bonus) Strong understanding of typical residential wood-frame construction, reinforced concrete foundations, and steel integration Ability to produce thorough, accurate construction documents and details Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus Interior architectural detailing / interior design capability is a plus Strong communication and organizational skills Local candidate with a car for site visits, meetings, and municipal hearings Someone proactive, detail-driven, and interested in long-term growth with a small practice Why This Role Is Unique Immediate impact on the quality of projects and workflow Close collaboration with the principal, including visibility into firm operations Clear path to increasing responsibility as the firm grows Regular site observation—not just desk work A meaningful voice in design and problem-solving A focused, respectful working environment Hybrid & Flexible Start The position begins as a freelance/consulting arrangement to ensure mutual fit, with the intention of transitioning into a full-time, hybrid W-2 role with long-term stability and benefits. In-office presence anticipated at ~3 days/week.
