Area Directors will provide leadership, supervision, evaluation and alignment of the instructional programs for the District. Directors are responsible for the implementation and coordination of the District programs through an ongoing process of planning for innovation, strategic change and student achievement. Directors ensure that principals, instructional and support staff receive quality professional development. They establish a culture that promotes learning, good conduct, positive attitudes and the Districts values. Area Directors promote and articulate the Districts Professional Learning Communities goals and objectives. They articulate and oversee the Districts Strategic Plan goals and objectives. They involve staff, parents and the community in the on-going educational programs of the District.

For positions that qualify, the District offers a benefit package that is valued at more than $10,000 annually. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Public Employees Retirement System (PERSI) and are provided to Classified employees who work at least half time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position and to Certified employees with a .50 FTE or greater contract.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Demonstrate ability to adjust strategies and practices in order to ensure the success of District programs, student achievement, staff development and the Strategic Plan
  • Demonstrate the desire and ability to lead and develop adults; exhibit willingness to engage in difficult conversations and make hard decisions.
  • Possess written and verbal skills to articulate points of view in a clear and concise manner, and to build relationships with individuals at all levels, students, parents, and patrons
  • Exhibit professionalism, confidence and a sense of possibility
  • Demonstrated successful experiences in leadership, management, and teamwork


Acceptable Experience and Training
:


  • Must hold a valid Idaho Administrators Certificate
  • Masters Degree in School Administration, Supervision and Curriculum, and/or School Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years successful teaching and/or administrative/supervisor experience.
  • Have distinguished themselves among peers.
  • Other requirements as determined by the Superintendent and/or Board

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Leadership Responsibilities:


  • Serve as a member of the Superintendents cabinet
  • Establish program goals and direction in accordance to the Districts Strategic Plan.
  • Create a culture of high expectations, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Interpret the programs, philosophy and policies of the District to staff, parents and the community
  • Leads in the development, implementation and evaluations of a data-driven plan for increasing student achievement and District efficiencies
  • Attend Board meetings and prepare reports for the Board at the superintendents request
  • Confer with principals regarding the supervision and evaluation of staff; supervise and evaluate building principals
  • Understand and clearly articulate to principals and the connections among the Districts assessment, instructional programs and Strategic Plan
  • Understand and utilize data collection and analysis for planning, including the use of technology systems
  • Oversee the implementation of division/department policies and procedures and interact with those who manage District programs
  • Serve as a District representative and assume responsibility at local, state, and national meetings and events pertaining to the interests of the District
  • Represent the District in labor and management relations
  • Address all issues impacting safe and appropriate learning and working environments
  • Articulate the Districts mission, instructional philosophy, and implementation strategies to the staff and community and solicits their support for realizing the mission.
  • Forecast trends, respond to change, and invite innovation
  • Is proactive in shaping the future of education in the Boise School District and the State of Idaho by promoting the profession, participating in public forums and by publicizing success in education
  • Other duties as assigned
