Direct Support/Artist Mentor -- share your creative energy!

Artsify Colorado seeks direct support professionals looking to take an artistic approach to work with adults who experience the world uniquely through their developmental disability.

Art fills our clients lives with joy, purpose, discovery and friendships. Drawing, song, animation, illustration, music, piano, jewelry, creative endeavors. Each person sees art in a new way, and we appreciate each persons artistic and life goals. Not only do we focus on art, but we put a highlight on being a mentor and leading by example to help them reach their individualized goals such as learning to cook, maintaining the cleanliness of their homes, and community engagement.

We offer flexible work settings, flexible hours, that are especially adaptable to a students class schedule. Part-time schedules are available (minimum of 30 hours/month), and full-time schedules are available (maximum of 40 hours/week). Day and Evening shifts are available any day of the week.

Artsify clients are talented, self-aware, engaged in community life and taking care of themselves individually and as a caring community. We have clients throughout Multnomah County, but Artist Mentors are encouraged to accompany clients in exploring the wider community to be involved in learning about culture, community, art, and enhance their experiences in things that are intriguing to them.

Compensation:

Hourly wage $18.30-$18.75 depending on experience and schedule. Benefits are generous and proportionate to hours scheduled for and worked per month.

Requirements:

* Genuine love of artistic expression, and admiration for all the ways people enjoy art

* Patience and openness to following a clients interests, energy and tempo

* Consistent attendance, punctuality, pro-active communication

* High school diploma or GED

* Current driver license, and 3-year record of safe driving

* Access to a clean, safe, insured vehicle suitable for client transport (Artsify will reimburse mileage)

* Uncompromising respect for clients, their independence and their privacy

* Ability to pass a background check (before first day on the job)

* CPR and First Aid certificates (Artsify will help arrange)

Desirable qualities:

* Experience working with high-functioning developmentally disabled adults

* Eagerness to build a compatible relationship with clients based on their dreams and talents
