Our client , a well known and long standing manufacturer of custom furnishing for homes & businesses is looking for carpenter helper.
Shifts: Monday - Friday 8:00am - Completion
Compensation: $17.00 - $19.00 DOE / HR
Location : Freeport NY
The Carpenter Assistant will assist in the construction, assembly, and finishing of picture frames. This role involves learning basic carpentry techniques related to frame making, operating tools and equipment, and performing various manual tasks to support the production of high-quality picture frames.

The Carpenter Assistant will assist in the construction, assembly, and finishing of picture frames. This role involves learning basic carpentry techniques related to frame making, operating tools and equipment, and performing various manual tasks to support the production of high-quality picture frames.
Key Responsibilities:
- Frame Assembly and Construction:
- Assist in measuring, cutting, and assembling frame components to precise specifications.
- Support the joining and securing of frame corners using techniques such as miter cuts and frame joinery.
- Help with the installation of glazing, backing materials, and hanging hardware.
- Tool and Equipment Operation:
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools used in frame construction, such as saws, clamps, and routers
- Material Handling:
- Load, unload, and organize materials such as wood, glass, and backing board.
- Prepare materials for use by measuring, cutting, and finishing as required.
- Quality Control and Finishing:
- Inspect frames for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet company standards.
- Assist in sanding, painting, staining, or finishing frames as directed.
- Site Preparation and Clean-Up:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the proper disposal of waste materials.
- Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned and stored properly at the end of each shift. :
- Observe and learn from experienced carpenters to gain skills in picture frame construction and finishing.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to improve carpentry techniques and knowledge.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred .
- Basic understanding of carpentry tools and techniques preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying materials.
Skills:

- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle manual labor.
