We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join a growing organization in the greater Philadelphia area. Key Responsibilities Oversee full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of real estate properties Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Review monthly workpapers, journal entries, and bank reconciliations prepared by the accounting team. Perform and review allocations of shared corporate expenses across multiple properties. Review and reconcile corporate credit card activity and related expense allocations. Monitor real estate taxes, insurance, replacement reserves, and other property-level financial obligations. Coordinate with Human Resources to review, process, and record payroll activity. Review vendor payments to ensure appropriate authorization and accounting treatment. Assist with property and investment fund distributions. Support quarterly property valuation processes. Prepare and review audited property-level financial statements while coordinating with external auditors. Mentor, develop, and oversee members of the accounting and accounts payable teams. Help strengthen internal controls, improve accounting processes, and support implementation of new technologies. Partner closely with Asset Management and Property Management teams by providing financial analysis and operational support. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 5 years of progressive real estate accounting experience . Public accounting experience is preferred. Fund accounting experience is a plus. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience with Yardi and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills. Solid understanding of real estate operations, property management, and investment accounting. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
