Position Summary The Assistant Controller will manage the Accounts Payable and General Ledger functions, collaborate with the Accounting Manager on Accounts Receivable and Time & Billing, review financial statements, and manage month‑end and annual close processes. The role reports to the Director of Accounting. Location: Austin, TX; Long Beach, CA; or Dover, OH (options for remote/hybrid). Responsibilities Direct management of AP and GL staff and functions. Monitor workflow, quality, and provide training for accounting teams including GL, AP, AR and Time & Billing. Own month‑end and annual closing processes, including posting of journal entries and account reconciliations. Conduct initial review of monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness. Manage workflows and improve processes to increase efficiency within financial statement and AP processes. Implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; evaluate and streamline processes. Review fixed‑assets depreciation and capitalization schedules. Manage cash and treasury activities: weekly cash‑flow forecasting, monitoring bank activity, uploading electronic and check payments. Final review of vendor invoice payments and credit‑card reconciliations. Monitor AP team adherence to vendor contract terms. Maintain ERP system updates and support finance software and process improvement initiatives. Perform additional ad‑hoc duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 7–10 years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role. CPA license and experience in a professional services firm. Strong analytical skills with ability to gather information, conduct analyses, present findings, and create solutions. Solid understanding of financial reporting and GL structure. Superior organizational skills, accuracy, detail orientation, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software systems. Excellent verbal and written communication, strong leadership and management skills.
