Assistant Controller

Help Build the Financial Foundation of One of the Fastest Growing Transportation Companies in the Pacific Northwest. As a trusted transportation partner and the proud recipient of Pepsi's 2025 Carrier of the Year , we've grown our fleet from approximately 170 trucks to more than 250 , with plans to exceed 300 trucks in the near future. As we continue to scale, we're looking for an Assistant Controller who wants to roll up their sleeves, take ownership, and help build a best‑in‑class accounting function. This is not a role for someone who simply reviews reports from a distance. We're looking for a hands‑on accounting professional who enjoys being in the details, solving problems, improving processes, and partnering closely with leadership to ensure our financial reporting is timely, accurate, and actionable. You'll work directly alongside our Controller and leadership team while playing a key role in preparing financial statements, improving accounting processes, and helping provide meaningful financial insight to our CFO and executive team. What You'll Do Assist in leading the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for executive leadership Partner closely with the Controller to prepare financial packages for the CFO and leadership team Perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy Analyze financial results, identify trends, and investigate variances Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting Support internal controls and continually improve accounting processes and efficiencies Help oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, fixed assets, accruals, and other core accounting functions Partner cross‑functionally with operations, HR, payroll, and leadership to support business initiatives What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA preferred , but not required 4+ years of progressive accounting experience Prior experience in a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar role Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation Experience leading or assisting with month‑end close Strong analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail Excellent communication and organizational skills Self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced, growing environment Someone who enjoys being hands‑on and isn't afraid to jump into the work While not required, we'd love to see experience in: Transportation, trucking, logistics, freight, or supply chain Multi‑entity accounting ERP/accounting systems implementation or optimization Process improvement and financial reporting automation As our company continues to grow, so will the opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
